Since the turn of the 20th century, skiing’s distinctive outerwear designs have consistently adopted grand influence from high street fashion, the need for winter protection, and the ever-evolving demands of general sportswear which became recognized for its need of pure garment specialization for various recreational activities.
During the 40s and 50s, the unique separates of jackets and pants replaced the one-piece in an effort to provide skiers with enhanced choices of fit, style, color, and material. “Tailor-mades,” the first alpine sportswear pieces created with couture-specific standards for female skiers were beautifully crafted in terms of their patterns, fabrications, and attention to technology. It is with this same recognition of winter sport’s specific demands of fit, tailored elegance, and performance that Alps & Meters presents the Piste Bomber.
The famous photographer's aim to capture "attractive people in attractive places doing attractive things" naturally found its way to iconic locations such as Gstaad and Zermatt.
These female pioneers shaped modern day skiing (and did it with style, precision and power), with knitwear playing an integral part in their athletic attire and après ski uniforms.
